ROBERTO CACCIALANZA

Knight of the Order "To the merit of the Italian Republic"
Indipendent researcher and historian of Photography
Member of the European Society for the History of Photography (ESHPh)


In November 2018 Roberto Caccialanza was officially awarded the honor of Knight of the Order "To the Merit of the Italian Republic".
Independent researcher and historian of Photography, he’s a member of the
European Society for the History of Photography (ESHPh). He's founder of the CeSFI (Center for the Study of International Photography).
Over the years he has partnered with Archives and institutions at national and international level; in particular deals with consulting for the recognition, dating and the correct attribution of photographs produced in Italy in the nineteenth century.
On 23 March 2017 the
European Society for the History of Photography (ESHPh), based in Vienna, one of the two most prestigious worldwide institutions for the study of the history of Photography, has published the international study entitled Stefano Lecchi, from Milan, pupil of Daguerre: the last biography.
Numerous photographic works of Caccialanza have been published in national and international magazines and on the websites of important musicians and artists who performed in Cremona from 2010 to today.

Passionate about photography since childhood, he has organized several exhibitions, and published researches and historical books or historical-photographic books:

In
2015 Caccialanza co-organized the exhibition La Grande Guerre dans le Val d'Argent, which was held at the Maison de la Région Alsace in Strasbourg (in collaboration with the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento and the Italian Institute of Culture in the Alsatian city).

In 2015 and 2016 he published the international study
Leandro Crozat - Sistema Crozat: biografia e notizie sul brevetto d’invenzione dei ritratti sul doppio fondo fotografico, colorito istantaneo e vernice preservativa.
In
2016 and 2017, was presented the handbook Privative industriali [Fotografia] rilasciate in Italia dal 1844 al 1885, the first census of the patents registered in Italy on the subject of Photography (equipments, chemicals, processes and objects related or linked to this matter).
In July 2016 the ‘Bollettino Storico Piacentino’ of Piacenza published the biography of
Francesco Sidoli, fotografo a Piacenza e a Roma (1807-1896).

On 23 March
2017 the European Society for the History of Photography (ESHPh), based in Vienna, one of the two most prestigious worldwide institutions for the study of the history of Photography, has published the international study entitled Stefano Lecchi, from Milan, pupil of Daguerre: the last biography. Subject of the study is the biography of the painter and photographer Stefano Lecchi, known worldwide for the photographic reportage of the 1849 events in Rome and other views of Pompeii made in 1847. The biographical research, developed over more than two years of work, has involved several public and private institutions from all over Europe (Belgium, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Malta, United Kingdom, Switzerland).
On April 11, 2017, the exhibition and the catalog
Immagini della vecchia Cremona nelle 'Lastre Betri': il fondo fotografico antico della Biblioteca Statale di Cremona were presented: the initiative of study, cataloging, digitization, restoration and enhancement was promoted by the Lions Club Cremona Host and the State Library of Cremona.

In
2018 Caccialanza has published 7 books:
Alessandro Duroni, ottico e fotografo a Milano (1807-1870), the first and most important photographer in Milan of the XIX century.
The second editions of best-selling books

La chiesa di S. Ilario in Cremona, researches and texts by the art historian prof. Mariella Morandi, photographs and graphic layout by Roberto Caccialanza.

La memoria dello sguardo: storia della fotografia nelle province di Como, Lecco, Sondrio e Varese (1839-1930), a 288-page color book written by the collector Ruggero Pini, graphic layout by Roberto Caccialanza.
La vita sul Po a Cremona dal 1839 al 1959, a 200-page book illustrated by 200 images that tells the story and curiosities of life along the banks of the Po river in Cremona over the course of 120 years, between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
